According to Union minister Mansukh Mandaviya, the country's medical college population has doubled over the previous nine years, and the government plans to establish a critical care unit in each of the country's districts.

At the Saturday launch of a regional cancer facility at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), he said that there are now 1,07,000 MBBS seats nationwide, up from 50,000 in 2014.

Additionally, he lay the cornerstone for NEIGRIHMS's 150-bed critical care wing. The northeast will now have access to much-needed healthcare services thanks to the new NEIGRIHMS facilities. He declared, "The central government is dedicated to enhancing the region's health facilities. He said that India is proud of its four-tier health system, which consists of ASHA, primary, secondary, and tertiary care, whereas other nations use a three-layered approach.
